Pep Talks revisited

People often use quotes to help people, to give people hope, to help them think of something in a different way. (Mr. Melkonian LOVES quotes!)

Think of or look up a quote that you could use to give someone that extra "pep" in a pep talk. What quote would you use...who said the quote...and what situation would you use it in?

Pep Talk

Who do you know that needs a "Pep Talk?" What could you say to someone who needs a "Pep Talk?" (remember to leave out people's names!)

DO-OVERS/Second Chances

Do-Overs. A Do-over is a chance to do something over that you might not have done right the first time...everything is forgiven and forgotten. It is really a second chance.
Sometimes parents or teachers give kids this chance. If you had the chance for a DO-OVER what would you do over? what would you change? What you said? How you acted or reacted? Maybe you would take yourself out of a situation entirely? Now's your chance...what is your DO-OVER? (please leave out or change the names.)

Reflection on our School Years

There is a best selling book by Robert Fulghum titled All I Really Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten. These are some of those ideas:

1. Share everything.
2. Play fair.
3. Don't hit people.
4. Put things back where you found them.

You can see how those things can really apply to us no matter how old we are!

Think about your own early years in school, what did you learn that you think can still apply to your life? Is there a teacher who really taught you some wonderful lesson? Is there a particular incident you felt you really learned from? Is there a book your teacher shared that you really connected with?

Peer Pressure

We all, sometime in our lifetime, feel the pressure from our friends or family to act a certain way, dress a certain way or do certain things...we call this Peer Pressure. Often this might go against what we KNOW we should do. Have you ever been in an uncomfortable situation where you felt pressure to act a certain way? Tell about a time you went along with the crowd, despite the feelings you shouldn't. (Please leave out the names of others!)
